A busy husky is a happy husky!?!

Dakota has settled into the household routine quite well. He is so mellow and laid back. He is always laying near us. He has even opened up enough to tolerate playing with the puppy (whom isn't much of a puppy now)! He enjoys spending time out doors.

He also does very well is situations that other dogs may find stressful. He rides well in the car, as long as he can hang his head out the window, which is a pain in the butt right now because he is blowing his winter coat...

We attended an adoption event at Dundee Days (a music festival) and he did so well. There were quite a few people, music, horns etc. Nothing really seemed to faze him. He just laid around and let people rub his tummy.
At Dundee Days!
He is such a good boy. Today has been a quiet day around here. He has no issues with laying around and being a couch hog.

Can you give this sweet boy his forever home? Please fill out an application at www.rescuewarriorscorp.com. Once you are an approved adopter, we can set up a meet and greet to see if Dakota would be a good fit for your household!

Parades, parks and pups!

Dakota is coming out of his shell more and more everyday. The poor thing has been through so much lately. He is definitely enjoying life right now!

Yesterday we went down to Dundee, IL and walked with the Rescue Warriors Corp in the Memorial Day parade. It was a blast! So many people commented on what a pretty dog he was and how friendly he was. He enjoyed meeting people old and young alike all along the parade route. He wasn't nervous or over-excited. He just took everything in stride.

All dressed up and ready to go!

Getting ready to line up for the parade!

He is settling in well here at home too. He is definitely our most mellow foster dog so far.

Today we made a trip to the dog park, even though it is dreary and rainy. He did pretty good, and is gorgeous to watch run! He is so graceful and fast! I couldn't get any pics or videos, but I will try next time we get out to the park. He met a few other dogs and did well, although he always seems a little nervous at first. He did great, and even found a little dog to chase around (although he seemed to be barely trying while that poor dog was giving it her all!)

He does look a little rough right now. He got pretty wound up right after he was neutered and gave himself a good scrape on the head from a crate. The scab came off last night, so now he has a bald patch above his left eye. You couldn't see it in the pictures, except for the matted hair which has now come off with the scab!
He also had a hot spot under the yucky collar he came with, so we had to shave part of his neck. It is drying out well and will be healed in no time! He does quite well with me messing with all of his boo-boos. I'm pretty sure he understands that this is all for the best. We are also helping him gain a little bit of weight, as he is a little thin right now.

Even with all of these minor issues, he doesn't let it faze him at all. He is still a lover, calm as can be and follows you everywhere. He does know some basic obedience as well. He is crate trained and does well in there with no issues.
He enjoys riding with his head out the window!
Would you be willing to give Dakota a forever home? If so, please go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com and fill out their online adoption application. Once you are an approved adopter, we can arrange for a time for you to meet with Dakota.

A Loyal Companion!

So we have given Dakota a few days to settle in here.
He seems to be doing wonderfully. He has really become attached to my boyfriend and literally follows him everywhere!
He laid in the bathroom while my boyfriend got ready for work.

Mellow is this boy's middle name. He really has no interest in playing with other dogs at all. He just avoids my two while they rough house. He follows the cats around, but does nothing more than sniff at them. He does well in his crate at night or when we are gone. He is definitely a people dog and a loyal companion. He would do good it a laid back, quiet home. He is a sweetie and knows sit, stay and no. He is housetrained. He walks awesome on a leash (sadly better than my two!) and does not pull at all.

If you are looking for a mellow, laid back best friend to stick by your side, Dakota is the man for the job.

Go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com to fill out an adoption application online. Once you are an approved adopter, we can meet and greet to determine a good match for Dakota!

Meet Dakota!

Please help me welcome Dakota into foster dog life.

Dakota is a 4 year old retired lead sled dog. His owner has fallen ill and couldn't take care of him anymore. He is housebroken, good with other dogs, doesn't seem to mind cats, is good on leash and is AKC registered. He is recently neutered, microchipped, UTD on his vaccinations, including rabies, and heart worm negative.

Tonight the first thing we did was a bath and a brush out. He wasn't too impressed by this, and was more interested in socializing with the other dogs in the house. He does seem to have more of a dominant personality. He is pretty nervous right now, being that so much has changed for him over the last few days. We will see how he is as he comes out of his shell more in the next couple days.

If you are looking for more information about him, it is at http://www.shelterexchange.org/save_a_life/9319. Also watch the blog.

If you are interested in making him a part of your family, please apply online at http://www.rescuewarriorscorp.com/
Finally got him to stop for a moment to get a good picture.

Finally Home!

For all of my blog followers, whom have not yet heard the good news,
Lolli has FINALLY found her furever home!

She is going to be a great companion for a 5 year old boy and his mommy.
I, of course, shed tears of joy as I headed back home yesterday. I am so happy she found a furever home, even though she stole my heart!

Her new mom was kind enough to share some photos of her first day/night with her new family. It seems that she is settling in well.

Seems like she will be well loved and spoiled rotten. So happy that this little sweetie has found a great family!

Do I have to beg?

Hello Everyone!

Lolli here! My foster mom has been doing an amazing job of getting the word out and writing about me and daily life around here. However, I am still here, and that is a problem. So I am taking this into my own paws for the time being...

Don't get me wrong, I love my foster family, but I am really ready for my own family. One that I can call my own and love. We spend our days around here sleeping, playing, wrestling, napping, cuddling, loving, going to the dog park,as well as going for walks and runs. Life is great here, but I know there is a family out there looking for a fun loving dog to make their own.

Here is what I would need from you. Do you like to run, walk, play and just enjoy being outside? Do you have a couch (or recliner) I can share with you? Would you mind if I followed you everywhere? Would you mind if I ask for tummy rubs and cuddles every night? Will you throw the tennis ball endlessly for me? Will you take the time to understand me and my personality? Would you love me forever? If so, please fill out an adoption application so we can meet! Foster mom says that we are going to another adoption event on 5/24. Wouldn't it be great to spend a long Memorial Day weekend with me?

Go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com to fill out the application online!

Hello Spring!

The sun was out all day, and the temps were above 40 for a change! Yay!
Chewing on sticks that I pulled out of the flower beds!
We spent most of our day outside enjoying the spring weather and getting some things done around the yard. Lolli is still (yes, STILL) waiting for her forever home. In the meantime, she seems to have settled into our routine quite well and very quickly.
Lolli is very helpful in the kitchen!
She is such a sweetie and will make an active person a great family member. She loves to run and play and it seems she always has energy. Although I don't think she minds when it's time to settle down for the evening (as you can tell from her pictures).

She is so ready for her forever home! I am in the process of creating a letter, with all of the information and things that I know and have learned about Miss Lolli. That way her new family won't get her home and be completely clueless about what she is doing (or saying).
All dogs need time to adjust to a new environment and people, however, if I can pass on my tips and tricks, it will make for a successful transition, as she is a quirky little dog with lots of personality! She is really nothing more than a playful, cuddly bundle of body wagging love and I want nothing but the best for her.  Darn these foster babies for wiggling their way into my heart!

Her current location as I blog...on top of my feet (of course)! Good thing my feet fell asleep about a half hour ago because she is OUT!

Please go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com to fill out an application for adoption. Once you are an approved adopter, let's meet up for some playtime to see how we mesh!

Sunny Sunday!

Whew! What a day! We spent the majority of this beautiful event traveling and attending the Rescue Warriors adoption event at Happy Pet Parlor in Elk Grove Village, IL.
Big Yawns!

There were lots of people that came to see all of the puppies and kitties available for adoption.

For Miss Lolli, (or anybody for that matter)it was very overwhelming. Lots of barking dogs, kids, and people moving about. But she handled it better than I expected her to!

She was pretty frustrated that she didn't get to actually play with any of the other dogs, which was pretty much her whole focus today. That, and being loved on by kids! She made sure that she did lots of talking (far more than she talks here). However, she just wanted to fit in with all of the other barking dogs.

At least it wore her out a bit as she snoozed all the way there and literally collapsed in the back seat and was out cold (complete with snoring) the majority of the way home. Not a very good riding companion when all she does is snore :)

We were literally only a mile down the road!

She woke up as we pulled in the driveway.

Lolli did not yet find her forever home, though she seems to be drawing some attention, thanks to the blog! If you can help her out and share her story with others that may be interested, she would be most appreciative!

If you are ready for this sweetie to be your new best friend, go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com and fill out the online application!

Lolli-pup, Lolli-pup oh Lolli, Lolli, Lolli

The sun has finally shown it's face around here! Thank goodness, we were all starting to go a little nuts with all the rain, snow and gloom.

Lolli soaking up the sun this morning
Lolli is doing great. Never a dull moment with this playful little lady. We got out for a few walks, and then a trip to the dog park where she was more interested in following around all the other dogs and people than sticking by us. I am starting to think that she is getting bored with us and wants a forever home?!?

She was on lookout duty I think
She just loves everyone! She can't get enough of kids and the neighbor kids don't mind letting her love up on them for awhile. The cats tolerate her, sometimes she follows them too much and then they let her know. She is a world class couch hog when it comes to snuggling and although she is a lady, she snores like the best of them. She also tolerates a lot, like one mischievous little puppy who thinks he can do whatever his little heart desires, including using Lolli as a seat.

Yes, that is Lolli that Hercules is using as a chair...
Did I mention that we are super excited to be heading to Elk Grove Village, IL tomorrow for the adoption event taking place at Happy Pet Parlor? Lolli had a bath tonight to get her smelling and looking her best (did I mention she is a rock star when it comes to bathtime)! She can't wait to show everyone what an awesome tail wagger (okay it is more like a butt shaker, but you get the point) and lover she is.

Stop by Happy Pet Parlor at 672 Meacham Rd. between 12:00 Noon and 3PM. There will be food, raffles and lots of pups (and kittens) that are looking for their forever home, including Lolli! We are keeping our fingers and paws crossed for a successful match! We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

Can't make the event and are interested in adopting? Head over to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com to fill out the adoption application!

Spring is here?!? Maybe?

What a lovely sunny day! Thank goodness, myself, as well as the dogs were starting to go stir crazy from all this rainy weather we have been having here lately. Everything is still wet and muddy, but at least we had blue skies and warmer temps today.

And what a perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy the nice weather!

We played some ball out in the yard to try and wear off some of the pent up energy from all of the rainy days we have had lately. Lolli loves to play, loves to cuddle and had LOTS to say. She seems to never stop morning time nap time or night time. She keeps resident puppy Hercules entertained and tired out as well.

While Lolli is having a blast here, she is really getting tired of the foster dog life. Won't you make her part of your permanent family?  To do so, please fill out an application at www.rescuewarriorscorp.com .

We will also be making an appearance at the Rescue Warriors upcoming adoption event on Sunday April 21st at Happy Pet Parlor, 672 Meacham Road in Elk Grove Village, IL. Come out and see us from 12:00noon til 3:00!

Lolli-pup

What can I say about Lolli that haven't already?
She has made herself right at home around here. She has adjusted very well. We don't hear a peep out of her at night, and she is an excellent cuddler.

My dogs don't tend to follow me everywhere I go. They could care less if I leave the room. Lolli, however, is my shadow. I honestly can not go anywhere in the house, without her right behind me. Even if she is sleeping, she has to get up and follow me.

She is spunky and playful and I just love her positive outlook on life! It just amazes me that someone hasn't scooped her up yet. I feel bad that she has been shuffled around so much. She definitely deserves a wonderful home. And believe me, she will pay you back in kisses, snuggles, hugs and smiles. Yes, she does smile, however, I can never seem to catch her smiles on camera.

Go to http://www.rescuewarriorscorp.com/ and fill out your adoption application. When your application is approved, we will set up a time for you to meet Miss Lolli.

April Showers Bringing May Flowers...

So the weather here in Wisconsin has turned rather sloppy.
This means spending lots more time indoors than out, very quick walks between raindrops and being sleepy.

Since our trip to the dog park earlier this week, Lolli has definitely been more manageable, energy wise. I can't tell you enough how amazed I am at what a lover she is, especially for the way she spent most of her young life so far; chained outside on a 3 foot chain. She truly believes she is a lap dog and is always looking for love. She is a pretty good snuggler too!

She is so playful, and sometimes it looks like she is a tough dog. But her tail gives her away. It is always wagging.
This has become a problem because she had some scabs on her tail that she is doing an excellent job of re-opening ALL the time because her tail never quits and she is oblivious to everything (or one) she swats with her tail.
She has been an all-star though, letting me clean it up and put ointment on it to help it heal and not get infected.

The neighbor kids were loving on her yesterday afternoon. She just adores kids and she could really use some human kids of her own to run and play with! We just have 4 legged kids that tolerate her, but don't always want to play.

And for those of you that didn't know, Lolli is a local celebrity. See her video here...http://landing.newsinc.com/shared/video.html?freewheel=91046&sitesection=wgn&VID=24637850

Lolli has a wish list for her new home. Do you have a fenced in yard where she can run? Are you active and would you get out and do things with her? Do you have one or more kids (preferably a little older, so she doesn't knock them over)? Are you willing to open up your heart and your house to this sweet little pitbull that is looking for her chance to love family life? If you answered yes, please fill out an application at http://www.rescuewarriorscorp.com/

Now for some information and advocacy. :)
Being a past pitbull owner, believe me, do I know and understand the controversy with pitbulls. People see them as dangerous and killers. They see the exceptions, not the majority.
I have been a pitbull advocate for years. My first pitbull strolled into my life when I was just a teenager. Reggie was only a puppy at a local humane society. I immediately fell in love. He was the most loyal, loving and sometimes neurotic dog I have ever had. I would not have traded the 8 and half years that I had with him for anything else in the world. Together we had good times and bad, and many, many adventures. He passed away in 2010. He lives on in my heart and will forever.
