Parades, parks and pups!

Dakota is coming out of his shell more and more everyday. The poor thing has been through so much lately. He is definitely enjoying life right now!

Yesterday we went down to Dundee, IL and walked with the Rescue Warriors Corp in the Memorial Day parade. It was a blast! So many people commented on what a pretty dog he was and how friendly he was. He enjoyed meeting people old and young alike all along the parade route. He wasn't nervous or over-excited. He just took everything in stride.

All dressed up and ready to go!

Getting ready to line up for the parade!

He is settling in well here at home too. He is definitely our most mellow foster dog so far.

Today we made a trip to the dog park, even though it is dreary and rainy. He did pretty good, and is gorgeous to watch run! He is so graceful and fast! I couldn't get any pics or videos, but I will try next time we get out to the park. He met a few other dogs and did well, although he always seems a little nervous at first. He did great, and even found a little dog to chase around (although he seemed to be barely trying while that poor dog was giving it her all!)

He does look a little rough right now. He got pretty wound up right after he was neutered and gave himself a good scrape on the head from a crate. The scab came off last night, so now he has a bald patch above his left eye. You couldn't see it in the pictures, except for the matted hair which has now come off with the scab!
He also had a hot spot under the yucky collar he came with, so we had to shave part of his neck. It is drying out well and will be healed in no time! He does quite well with me messing with all of his boo-boos. I'm pretty sure he understands that this is all for the best. We are also helping him gain a little bit of weight, as he is a little thin right now.

Even with all of these minor issues, he doesn't let it faze him at all. He is still a lover, calm as can be and follows you everywhere. He does know some basic obedience as well. He is crate trained and does well in there with no issues.
He enjoys riding with his head out the window!
Would you be willing to give Dakota a forever home? If so, please go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com and fill out their online adoption application. Once you are an approved adopter, we can arrange for a time for you to meet with Dakota.
