Because I Can't Say No!!

After a very VERY long lapse in fostering (due in part to many many changes in my life over the last 6 months), I have taken in a little princess that I just could not say no to...imagine that!

Her family called her "Star", I will be changing that because I just don't feel it, and it seems that she doesn't either. She will be 1 year old on 5/27. She was with a family that had two small children. She was too much to handle due to her high energy. She has little to no training currently. They were at their wit's end and were ready to dump her wherever they could, as fast as they could. Here is where I fall into the picture, as my friend gave me the head's up about her and her situation. I thought long and hard about taking in another dog, especially a husky. But I could not bear the thought of her ending up in a shelter or worse. So tonight, this fast and furious ball of energy came into our household!

The resident dogs have taken this all in stride and have done very well. Due to her lack of regular exercise, she is a whirlwind at the moment. However, she had a blast tearing around the yard for a while with the resident dogs! She does quite well with socializing to other dogs. Right now she is laying across the living room watching me type away.

She seems to understand "sit" and does it well. We started working on "down" and "off", as she tends to jump on things and people quite a bit.

She is absolutely gorgeous and quite the lover. With a little obedience training under her belt, she will make someone an awesome family member.

Working on her "down"
If there is anyone that is interested in this little lady, they can feel free to contact me via e-mail at ajk327@gmail.com . When the time is right, and the right family is found, she will be rehomed. Until then, make sure to follow her progress right here!

A busy husky is a happy husky!?!

Dakota has settled into the household routine quite well. He is so mellow and laid back. He is always laying near us. He has even opened up enough to tolerate playing with the puppy (whom isn't much of a puppy now)! He enjoys spending time out doors.

He also does very well is situations that other dogs may find stressful. He rides well in the car, as long as he can hang his head out the window, which is a pain in the butt right now because he is blowing his winter coat...

We attended an adoption event at Dundee Days (a music festival) and he did so well. There were quite a few people, music, horns etc. Nothing really seemed to faze him. He just laid around and let people rub his tummy.
At Dundee Days!
He is such a good boy. Today has been a quiet day around here. He has no issues with laying around and being a couch hog.

Can you give this sweet boy his forever home? Please fill out an application at www.rescuewarriorscorp.com. Once you are an approved adopter, we can set up a meet and greet to see if Dakota would be a good fit for your household!

Parades, parks and pups!

Dakota is coming out of his shell more and more everyday. The poor thing has been through so much lately. He is definitely enjoying life right now!

Yesterday we went down to Dundee, IL and walked with the Rescue Warriors Corp in the Memorial Day parade. It was a blast! So many people commented on what a pretty dog he was and how friendly he was. He enjoyed meeting people old and young alike all along the parade route. He wasn't nervous or over-excited. He just took everything in stride.

All dressed up and ready to go!

Getting ready to line up for the parade!

He is settling in well here at home too. He is definitely our most mellow foster dog so far.

Today we made a trip to the dog park, even though it is dreary and rainy. He did pretty good, and is gorgeous to watch run! He is so graceful and fast! I couldn't get any pics or videos, but I will try next time we get out to the park. He met a few other dogs and did well, although he always seems a little nervous at first. He did great, and even found a little dog to chase around (although he seemed to be barely trying while that poor dog was giving it her all!)

He does look a little rough right now. He got pretty wound up right after he was neutered and gave himself a good scrape on the head from a crate. The scab came off last night, so now he has a bald patch above his left eye. You couldn't see it in the pictures, except for the matted hair which has now come off with the scab!
He also had a hot spot under the yucky collar he came with, so we had to shave part of his neck. It is drying out well and will be healed in no time! He does quite well with me messing with all of his boo-boos. I'm pretty sure he understands that this is all for the best. We are also helping him gain a little bit of weight, as he is a little thin right now.

Even with all of these minor issues, he doesn't let it faze him at all. He is still a lover, calm as can be and follows you everywhere. He does know some basic obedience as well. He is crate trained and does well in there with no issues.
He enjoys riding with his head out the window!
Would you be willing to give Dakota a forever home? If so, please go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com and fill out their online adoption application. Once you are an approved adopter, we can arrange for a time for you to meet with Dakota.

A Loyal Companion!

So we have given Dakota a few days to settle in here.
He seems to be doing wonderfully. He has really become attached to my boyfriend and literally follows him everywhere!
He laid in the bathroom while my boyfriend got ready for work.

Mellow is this boy's middle name. He really has no interest in playing with other dogs at all. He just avoids my two while they rough house. He follows the cats around, but does nothing more than sniff at them. He does well in his crate at night or when we are gone. He is definitely a people dog and a loyal companion. He would do good it a laid back, quiet home. He is a sweetie and knows sit, stay and no. He is housetrained. He walks awesome on a leash (sadly better than my two!) and does not pull at all.

If you are looking for a mellow, laid back best friend to stick by your side, Dakota is the man for the job.

Go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com to fill out an adoption application online. Once you are an approved adopter, we can meet and greet to determine a good match for Dakota!

Meet Dakota!

Please help me welcome Dakota into foster dog life.

Dakota is a 4 year old retired lead sled dog. His owner has fallen ill and couldn't take care of him anymore. He is housebroken, good with other dogs, doesn't seem to mind cats, is good on leash and is AKC registered. He is recently neutered, microchipped, UTD on his vaccinations, including rabies, and heart worm negative.

Tonight the first thing we did was a bath and a brush out. He wasn't too impressed by this, and was more interested in socializing with the other dogs in the house. He does seem to have more of a dominant personality. He is pretty nervous right now, being that so much has changed for him over the last few days. We will see how he is as he comes out of his shell more in the next couple days.

If you are looking for more information about him, it is at http://www.shelterexchange.org/save_a_life/9319. Also watch the blog.

If you are interested in making him a part of your family, please apply online at http://www.rescuewarriorscorp.com/
Finally got him to stop for a moment to get a good picture.

Finally Home!

For all of my blog followers, whom have not yet heard the good news,
Lolli has FINALLY found her furever home!

She is going to be a great companion for a 5 year old boy and his mommy.
I, of course, shed tears of joy as I headed back home yesterday. I am so happy she found a furever home, even though she stole my heart!

Her new mom was kind enough to share some photos of her first day/night with her new family. It seems that she is settling in well.

Seems like she will be well loved and spoiled rotten. So happy that this little sweetie has found a great family!

Do I have to beg?

Hello Everyone!

Lolli here! My foster mom has been doing an amazing job of getting the word out and writing about me and daily life around here. However, I am still here, and that is a problem. So I am taking this into my own paws for the time being...

Don't get me wrong, I love my foster family, but I am really ready for my own family. One that I can call my own and love. We spend our days around here sleeping, playing, wrestling, napping, cuddling, loving, going to the dog park,as well as going for walks and runs. Life is great here, but I know there is a family out there looking for a fun loving dog to make their own.

Here is what I would need from you. Do you like to run, walk, play and just enjoy being outside? Do you have a couch (or recliner) I can share with you? Would you mind if I followed you everywhere? Would you mind if I ask for tummy rubs and cuddles every night? Will you throw the tennis ball endlessly for me? Will you take the time to understand me and my personality? Would you love me forever? If so, please fill out an adoption application so we can meet! Foster mom says that we are going to another adoption event on 5/24. Wouldn't it be great to spend a long Memorial Day weekend with me?

Go to www.rescuewarriorscorp.com to fill out the application online!
