Well we have had a very good turn of events this evening. It seems that Miss Maggie is finally starting to come out of her shell a bit. She is beginning to see that life is going to be okay.
She has begun initiating interaction with us and Hercules (our puppy), including tail wagging (which we had not seen until now). She is also actually playing with Hercules. Although 25 pounds versus 73 pounds is not exactly an ideal match up when chasing and jumping on the couches is concerned! Bailey continues to not accept her all that well, but being that she is larger than Bailey, this will take some adjustment time, as well.
I have also had the pleasure, earlier today, to listen to her sing to me. It is quite an unusual sound. She sounds like she is growling at first, but shows no signs of aggression. She then begins to howl and bark. It's quite an interesting combination of dog noises.
