Happy News

We have another fantastic update on Miss Maggie.
Last evening she had her first meet and greet.
It went a million times better than I ever expected it to. Silly me for thinking she wouldn't be too keen on meeting a new person. I should never have doubted her. I'm not going to lie, I figured she would become reserved and reclusive again upon meeting new people.

However, She warmed up to the gentleman rather quickly. She was licking him and sniffing him all over.
She doesn't even do that with my boyfriend, who lives here and is always taking care of her during the day!
She also got her fair share of loving from him and they seem like a perfect fit. He has experience with the husky breed and understands their quirks.
He is so understanding of all she has been through and is willing to take the time and help her see that life is good again!

She will have to start over at ground one with them, however, I believe it will be an easier adjustment than if she got too attached to us...although it seems she is definitely taken a fondness to me, as her demanding pawing is making it difficult for me to type at the moment. All she wants is her tummy rubbed right now!

So tomorrow, Miss Maggie will be going to her FUREVER HOME!
I could not be more thrilled and I think she will fit beautifully into his home and lifestyle. He has another husky, a teenage daughter and a young adult son. And even better, she will be living just over an hour away. It seems that the dogs I foster don't get to go too far from me when they are adopted. :)

The Maggie Report

Scratch a dog and you'll find a permanent job.
 ~Franklin P. Jones

Miss Maggie is doing quite well. She has just been settling into a little bit more normal routine. She is doing quite well and what a difference a few days can make for a sad, confused pup! We are definitely still seeing some timidness, but we are also seeing the snuggly, cuddly couch potato that she is as well.

All is going well and this will be a short blog post because it's late and I need some rest :)

Busy Tuesday!

Maggie has continued to make leaps and bounds in terms of her coming out of her shell! What an awesome dog! She is still a bit leery of things, but is definitely starting to settle into our household routine.

At the dog park.

Today I experimented and took all 3 dogs (yes, all 3) up to the dog park. They all did well and Maggie was socializing well with other dogs, as well as the resident dogs, Bailey and Hercules. She was a little nervous about the whole idea, so it did make her a little difficult to catch when it was time to go (or she didn't want to go yet?), but Bailey and Hercules managed to lure her into the out gate so that I could get her leash back on.

She is definitely more vocal and enjoys singing to me to get my attention. And she is wagging her tail a lot more! She is even starting to give kisses and wants to get closer to her. This would be an excellent time for a forever home, so that she can start bonding with her new, permanent family.

We are excited as well because we have our first meet and greet set up for Miss Maggie this Saturday! Seems that people are falling in love with her, and I don't blame them one bit! If we didn't already have two dogs, I would consider becoming more attached to her :) !

Maggie the 73 pound lap dog!

"Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer.”
-Dean Koontz, False Memory

On Sunday, I would never have thought I would be writing an update like this!
That poor, terrified and cautious dog that we brought into our home has amazing changed...

We now have a 73 pound lap dog as a foster pup with a smile from ear to ear!

She couldn't get close enough to me...

What an amazing transformation over the last few days! While she still tends to air on the side of caution, she is definitely letting her personality come out.   And what a lover she is. She can't get close enough to you and wants all the attention...however in this house, you have to share with the two resident dogs and two resident cats.

She is really doing well and I'm enthusiastic about the progress she is making.  and the changes I see happening with her. She is going to make someone an awesome dog!

Maggie helped write up the blog tonight!

Saying "hi" to Oreo!

A Good Update

Well we have had a very good turn of events this evening. It seems that Miss Maggie is finally starting to come out of her shell a bit.  She is beginning to see that life is going to be okay.

She has begun initiating interaction with us and Hercules (our puppy), including tail wagging (which we had not seen until now). She is also actually playing with Hercules. Although 25 pounds versus 73 pounds is not exactly an ideal match up when chasing and jumping on the couches is concerned! Bailey continues to not accept her all that well, but being that she is larger than Bailey, this will take some adjustment time, as well.

I have also had the pleasure, earlier today, to listen to her sing to me. It is quite an unusual sound. She sounds like she is growling at first, but shows no signs of aggression. She then begins to howl and bark. It's quite an interesting combination of dog noises.

She is going to make someone a great dog. The more of her personality that comes out, the more of a giant love bug she is. Please contact Rescue Warriors Corp. on Facebook or at info@rescuewarriorscorp.com to inquire about adopting Miss Maggie and giving her a furever home.

There's a smile from her!

Rainy Days

I won't complain about the rain and fog we are having today...just means spring is that much closer...hopefully!

Miss Maggie is pretty down right now. She can't seem to understand who we are or where she is or why she is here. She pretty much keeps to herself right now. She did let Hercules share the love seat with her last night.

She slept in her crate all night, with just a few little whines right when we went to bed. Seems that she feels that her crate is her safe place, as she has hung out there a lot today. We did get all 3 of the dogs out for a walk this afternoon and she did well. We are taking things slow and letting her decided when she is ready to be friends with us. We're hopeful that in the next few days she will start to relax and warm up to us.

Meet Maggie

We have taken in a new foster dog. Obviously we have a thing for huskies!

 Meet Maggie.
She is a 3 year old husky. She is quite timid at the moment and very unsure of what is going on right now. A lot has changed for Miss Maggie today. Her mom couldn't take her with her, so she had to give Maggie up. Maggie hung out at the vet this morning and I picked her up around lunch time. She is pretty nervous and very unsure of what is going on with so many changes occurring so quickly. She was overwhelmed meeting the two resident dogs, whom can be very much "in your business". So we sectioned off the bedroom for now to give her a quiet, chill area to adjust to everything. We'll see if a day or two will help her adjust to a new life in our home.

As you can tell, she is very much a spoiled house dog! She made herself right at home on the couches and beds. She even introduced herself to the resident cats in a very gentle manner. She'll need a little time to acclimate to everything. Right now she is very nervous around the other house members. Changes are stressful for animals just as much as people. She'll definitely need a home that can take things slow and let her adjust to them and them to her. She is a real sweetie and a large (she weighed in at 73lbs at the vet this AM ) gorgeous dog. Please help spread the word so we can find this princess a furever home.

Contact Rescue Warriors Corp. via Facebook or via e-mail at info@rescuewarriorscorp.com if you are interested in being this sweetie's furever home.
